The FA are concerned about the number of persons who attend Referees Basic Training courses and then never "take up the whistle". Accordingly the courses are only for persons who intend to referee on a regular basis. With the added problem of having to link the courses to a Child Protection Course and the related CRB checks it is unlikely that District FAs will be able to run courses on their own initiative as has been done in the past. Should Harrogate FA receive a minimum of 10 persons, who state that they intend to referee on a regular basis, a course will be run locally at a date to be agreed. At the moment a course is due to start at Weetwood in Leeds on 22 October 2007. Prospective attendees should note that there are limited places on the course and that they must fit the criteria as previously stated.
